Uber released year-ending statistics for Toronto

Most people use Uber to get from point A to point B, the service is a convenience. However, there are some who seem to use the ride hailing app almost constantly. With the end of the year approaching, the company has released its 2016 rider data, which shows one particular customers has taken almost 1,700 trips in 2016.

That so far, there are still a couple of days to go before 2017 is upon us. The exact figure is 1,688, Uber says in a statement. However, one customers in Bangalore, India, beats that by some distance with 3,135 journeys with Uber this year.

Back to Toronto, this is the first time the company has released year-end statistics for the Ontario city. That reflects the fact Toronto and the province of Ontario only adopted Uber with legal regulation bylaws this year, including allowing drivers to be insured through special coverage, like the policy offered by Intact Insurance.

As for drivers, one operator in Toronto clocked 10,526 trips during 2016, not bad considering most Uber drivers work variable hours and are part time. In Canada’s most populated city, Uber’s busiest times of the day are between 11 p.m. and midnight.

Toronto residents who travel to other countries and use Uber, the US, UK, and France are the most popular destinations. Toronto was popular amongst inbound travelers, it was Uber’s third most popular city in 2016, behind London and Paris.
